Nitric Acid Determination For Boeing Procedure B-232
1. PROCEDURE NO.: 4. REAGENTS:
| B-232 a. Potassium fluoride solution – Dissolve 110 grams KF∙2H₂O in 1 L of distilled water. |
5. PROCEDURE | a. Place a 15.0 mL sample in a 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Dilute to approximately 75.0 mL with distilled water. b. Add 50.0 mL of potassium fluoride solution. c. Using a pH meter and 1.0 N sodium hydroxide, titrate rapidly, to pH 11 (reaction is slightly reversible). |

7. CALCULATION: | (63.01) x (normality of NaOH) x (mL NaOH – 1.2) / (sample size) = g/L Total Acidity (expressed as HNO₃) |
